Default winch quick disconnect

i didnt really know where this should go, so feel free to move it to appropriate section.
i want to run some cables to my winch on my rear receiver hitch. the kits out there are asking $160 for two cables and a plug. my question is this:
what type of wire/cable should i use to route the quick disconnect to my hitch? i've heard that welding wire works but am a little short on the details. any info is much appreciated.

i've used welding leads to make a 50' set of jumper cables so i don't see why it wouldn't work for your winch.

Default quick disconnects

ive got the gray plastic pieces that connect together with solderless connectors, they are heavy duty, use in industrial tow trucks for jumper cable connectors. i would run the largest cable you can to prevent heating up, low resistance. i run a single "0" gauge but i know many people run the double "00" gauge which is capable of more amperage. if youd like id set aside the plastic kits for you for the quick disconnects...like i said they are the two plastic housings and four solderless crimpable connectors. (two per housing) you would need a special heavy duty crimper for these, and of course a place to buy cable by the foot. ill find out how much they cost me, since i pay what dealers cost is....and let you know......ok ive got some extras, find out what shipping cost is to your location from zip code 98052, and if its worth it to pay for shipping along with what the part costs me, ill send you them. otherwise check this out to get a price....total source is the company, part number is SY6370G2.

Default update

ok, so heres the place to go...Nelson truck in seattle washington has them, they are 12.50 a piece, he wants to get rid of them, if i order 12 or more, i can get them down to 9.50 each.......anyone interested? they are listed under towing accessories for the comercial tow truck industry, they use a 4 gauge wire that you would need to purchase seperately, i love these things they work well, just buy an extra one, to plug them when not in use, so you dont fill them with mud, thats when you need them the most. this product is not limited to 4 gauge, you can use "0" gauge if you want. let me know what you think. oh ya, welding leads are just fine for what you want, they usually carry more amperage than your winch/accesories will use. and usually rated the same "0" or "00" gauge.

they shouldnt be more than 15 bucks each.....check to see where your local tow truck company gets there Equipment/parts at, chances are youll find these connectors there. im not familiar with your area, so it might be a little more difficult than just calling them to see where they buy there replacement stuff at.
