Default Alarm Systems

Well I just saw on YouTube how easy it is to unlock a Ranger. So whats a good alarm system? Say for around a hundred and fifty bucks? #@%*!

An alarm is the very first thing a Ranger owner should buy. Prices are going to vary from one place to the next. Mine is an alarm/remote start combo, so it obviously cost more than an alarm alone.

Get one with a shock sensor and starter kill. You want an alarm that will sound if there's an impact like breaking glass.

all older vehicles that have a lot of door key use and ign use you are able to use a jiggle key to open like that. with a newer truck or car the door key cynlinder and ign switch is harder to jiggle open. i wouldn't worrie to much any way if the want it bad enough a alarm will not stop them taking the truck or what is in it. windows break easy

I knew someone was going to say that. That may be true, but I still disagree. It would be foolish for anyone to think that an alarm is going to make it impossible to break into or steal. But that does not mean we shouldn't bother doing anything to help protect our trucks - especially with the Rangers reputation of being easy to break in to.

A guy who knows what he's doing can, with no tools or contraptions of his own, can walk up to a Ranger, unscrew the antenna, and gain entry in a matter of seconds. That ought to worry you.

The idea behind alarms (car, home, business, whatever) is to make your place less attractive to the baddies than the one down the street. Why risk setting off the alarm and the 1 in a million chance that someone will actually pay attention and respond if the Ranger around the corner isn't alarmed?

So you can move in around the corner from me and get your monies worth out of the alarm.

There is always someone who says that and I never understand why. What good does it do to say that after you get jacked, knowing you did nothing to try and prevent it? Any thief with 2 brain cells to rub together is going to go for the easiest target with the smallest chance of getting caught. The least you can do is install a basic alarm but of course the more layers of security the better. Nothing you can do will make it 100% unstealable but you can reduce the odds.
I would recommend a Viper alarm with 2 way paging. Get a back up battery to. Install it in a hidden location, don't get it installed at bestbuy or a similar place, those hacks just shove it under the driver dash. Get a back up battery too.

The Club is no good. Instead of trying to cut it, you can just cut the steering wheel instead, and off it comes.
Still, I suppose it would deter someone without a saw....

thats true to the reason i said what i said before is because i had the alarm on my pontiac, but still lost everything in it. $1400 worth of tools and stero. but yes i also argee a alarm will make you truck a little less of a candite for theft. but there is still always the smash and grab.
