Wipers, speedometer, odometer, dome light dont work help me please

My windshield wipers, speedometer, odometer, dome light all stopped working at the same time. There is power running to the wiper motor and i tried a new motor, that did not fix the problem, all the fuses are good, i also tried a new multi fuction switch on the steering wheel. Anyone Know what is wrong or ever have had this happen to their truck?

check the grounds first.
one of the computers might have gone bad. body control module maybe maybe maybe

Read on another thread to check fuse 26. I didn't even have a fuse in that spot. I put a 10A fuse and everything came to life! Someone also recommended to check the splice at your trailer light hook-up. Good luck!

This is a very easy fix, the problem is the GEM module. it can be replaced in minutes. In my 98 ranger it is located on the left side of the stereo. I came across this problem when I forgot to plug it in when I replaced the A/C blend door. I also had a friend that ended up having his go bad and we picked up a used one at the salvage yard for $25 Bucks. (over $300 at the dealer). Good luck.

I just ran across this same issue myself. I have a 1995 XLT 2-wheel drive 2.3L.

My odometer quit long ago but everything else worked until last weekend. The speedo quit, then noticed the windshield wipers weren't working, dome light is out and the warning signal the headlights after the key is off and you open the door. I am sure there is probably something else but, those are what I am aware of. I checked the fuse as soon as I saw the speedo quit and it looked okay... I am going to make a run to the auto parts store in a few and get brand spankin new fuses so I am 100% sure. If that doesn't take care of it, I will probably try the GEM Module. I will keep you guys posted as to which one it is.

That said... STICKY this thread because it might help someone somewhere!

Well, it isn't the fuse because I put a new fuse in. Not only did it blow within 20 seconds but a puff of smoke billowed out from the dash.

Clearly a short. Look for loose and chaffed wires anywhere in your dash harness

I pulled the raido out and checked and didn't see anything... everything looked brand new in there believe it or not. Looks like I am gonna have to pull the dash out. :/

Check fuse 11.

Check the fuse. They are all on the same fuse.

Usually when a group of electrical items don't work, it's usually a blown fuse, this happened to me numerous of times.

That's true about the group of items on 1 fuse but you shouldn't see smoke coming from the dash. There's more to it than just a blown fuse. Definitely a short.
