Default Flashing headlights

This is my first if this question has been asked or answered before, sorry. My son has a 1994 STX 4.0 4X4 and is having problems with the headlights flashing after about 15 minutes of being on. He has replaced the headlights, the multi-function headlight switch, most of the relays that appear to be related to the lighting system....and the problem still continues. He is about to start pulling his hair out! I am planning on spending Wednesday helping him isolate the problem...and I definately can't stand loosing any more hair if we can't figure it out.

Wondering if anyone out there has been able to locate a good wiring diagram (line drawing, NOT just functional schematic) and would mind sharing where they got it so I can get another one. I HAD one at one time, but it was used to help my other son work on HIS 94 Ranger....and now it seems to have 'grown legs and walked away' as things often do when working on projects with my sons!

My son (with the flashing headlights) says that if he disconnects one headlight...the other one quits flashing. Seems to indicate an over current condition. He SWEARS that it has stock headlamps in it (NOT the silverstars)

Sounds like there may be a thermal breaker or something that is overheating and then resetting.....ANY SUGGESTIONS????

I have a 1997 Ranger and all of the factory manuals...including the wiring diagrams, but there is too much difference between the '94 and '97 for them to be of any good on this project.

Can't help with the wiring diagrams, but you might check all the grounds for the headlights. Had that happen with the parking lights on a 90 bii. It was a corroded ground.

Unlike newer Rangers that have fuses, your son's 94 uses circuit breakers for the headlights. They are flashing off and on as the circuit breaker opens and then automatically resets itself. I suspect that one of the breakers is bad or there could be a problem with the headlight switch. The headlight switch on 94 and earlier has a reputation for failing at high miles.
