I've been having the same exact problem in my 1990 2.3L ranger. It's very frustrating. It only seems to manifest itself on cool (50°F or so) days when the air is thick with moisture, but not in the rain. I checked all the fuses under the dash, they look clean. I replaced the fuses in the power distribution box up under the hood as well.
Mechanic diagnosed the problem as a bad alternator and replaced it. I didn't have problems for a few weeks then it just came out of nowhere on a cold start. Drove it up to his shop to reproduce the problem for him, and it started up just fine.
It has been about a week and it has not reproduced the problem yet.
Anyway, I just replaced the ignition switch, and there was a little bit of gunk building up on some of the connectors. Other than that switch, I couldn't see any commonalities between the ABS, blower motor and turn signals based on the wiring diagrams in the manual.
Any advice would be appreciated!
