I have a 2001 manual trans the speedometer quit working wheres the sender not on trans housing.

2001 manual is on the driver side of the transmission extension housing. It is called the Output Shaft Speed sensor (OSS).

there is not a sensor on the tall shaft housing that was the first place to look thats logical this is a two wheel drive model. There is a sendor on the diff housing lined up with the ring gear but I not sure if speed sendsor or something to do with the alb systom.

If it's an early 2001 with the 2.5L, then the vehicle speed signal is from the ABS sensor on the rear axle. All others in 2001, 2.3L, 3.0L and 4.0L, get the speed signal from the OSS.
