Unhappy 03 Ranger XLT - Problems with turn signals

Hello all,
I have a 03 ranger xlt and a few days ago my turn signals started acting up. When my turn signal is turned on ( left or right) both flash in the rear and only the correct one flashes in the front. When the TS is on and I apply the brakes both the rears turn solid and the correct one in the front turns solid as well. When I let off the brake they return to the flashing configuration above. I have not replaced any parts yet or have modified any part of the vehicle sans stereo 5 years ago.

Thanks

Two possibilities....

1) If you have a trailer harness, the plug on the end tends to corrode out and make connections it shouldn't be making.

2) Multifunction switch (turn signal lever) is fubar.

[QUOTE]Multifunction switch (turn signal lever) is fubar[QUOTE]+1. Also, there is a recall affecting this multi-function switch that "may have a deformed slider causing the turn signal, tail lights, hazard warning signal flashers and/or brake lights to not activate". This affects 26,715 vehicles new and old, including Rangers, built as early as 2004 (until the current model year). Dealers should have begun issuing notices to consumers starting about August 14th, but it is impossible to track down all owners. Chances are small that your vehicle was affected, and the info. I found online said that the vehicles all originated at the Twin Assembly Plant in Minn. If you have any questions, have your V.I.N. and call your nearest Ford Dealership. You shouldn't need the specific recall notice, however, acc. to what I found the NHTSA Campaign ID Number is 11V352000.

That was it. I removed the corroded plug from the trailer harness and everything its back to normal. Thanks!
