no, i dont know what caused the fuse to blow but i havent tried doing it again yet

so when u ran the wire from the main turn signal did u completly cut the side marker light wire? if not that is ur problem u cant justcut some coating off and connect the wire. that is what caused the fuse to blow.

Just cut the wire at the side marker light and attach the new wire to the end of the wire coming off the side marker. The wire that goes back intot the wiring harness just tuck it out of the way

Right. The black wire that goes to the side marker has to be cut all the way through, not just splicing into it like you do with the striped turn signal wire.

Any gauge wire equal to or heavier than the turn signal wire works. Too small and the lights may be dim.
