you have to switch your old water temp gauge into the new cluster. your wtg has a resistor on it, and the new one doesn't. i've had to do it to all the clusters i've swapped into my 95. once you do that, everything will be back to normal.

No, the only difference between the 95 cluster and 00 clusters are a few idiot lights locations and the fact that its built a bit different...

But im not sure if moving a needle would result in the check gauge light coming up, or was it doing that before you moved the needle?

the reason the check gauge light comes on is because the wtg pegs out to hot, or if your oil pressure gauge drops, or if your fuel is low. when the truck starts to over heat, the light will come on. it's probably done by resistance. when it gets out of its boundaries, it will trip the light.

here is one without the resistor:

and one with:

No the light wasn't coming on until i moved the needle. I have both clusters apart now and i see what you are saying. What about the tach , it seem like it is slipping . It holds an idle but when you give it gas it only goes up to around 1500 even if you mat it , to me its not registering correctly

not sure what the tach issue would be. maybe the needle is pushed down too far?

the needle location on the gauge won't make a difference in the ohms the gauge puts out. the gauge gets it's signal from the sending unit in the engine. so even if you move the needle, the gauge is still getting it's signal from the engine. when i first had the problem with my wtg, it took a couple minutes for it to peg. i know it wasn't over heating.
