Default A/C sputter

My a/c turns on and off about every 20 sec. It seems to stay on longer the longer the truck runs. But not always.

have you hooked up some gauges? Usually when it cycles on and off constantly the pressure inside is off because it is too empty or too full of refrigerant. Also, inadequate heating could cause the compressor to cycle constantly. Basically could be several things but a good set of gauges in the right hands will tell you what you need to know, or at least point you int he right direction.

It is supposed to cycle. The rate of cycling depends on how hot the air going over the coils is.
