Truck will not start
hi folks, i have a little problem
My 1997 Ranger will not start at all. The engine turns over, but will not run. I am not getting any spark to the plugs, but i had the coil pack tested and it tested ok. Any thoughts?

Re: Truck will not start
I tested 3 plug wires and they all failed a spark test.
I hooked a spark plug wire tester to the plug wires and nothing.
What is a DMM?

Re: Truck will not start
well, I drove the truck to work last Mon and it drove fine, no problems or hicups. Went to go on my lunch break to get food 4 hrs later and it wouldnt start. checked the inertia switch, all relays and fuses and still same problem. Been trying to find the answer since.

Re: Truck will not start
Check under your passenger side dash, under where the dash stops, and look to the right. You'll see a small cylindrical button, soft to push, so push it in. See if your truck starts than.

The 4.0 engine forum would be the best place for you, however, coilpacks can test fine but still be bad. I am not sure if you have an ignition control module. I think you do, but I not positive. If you do have an ignition control module I would suspect that or the connections for it.

Re: Truck will not start
so your coil or whatever tested ok, but you don't get spark. i'd suspect the wires then.
