Turn headlight dash switch on, and the front lights, dash lights are all ok, but I have no rear lights, backup lights, or brake lights. Rear turn signals do work fine.

I checked underneath for loose wiring, and found none. Look again? I checked the bulbs in each rear lens, and went ahead and replaced them since they were blacker than a coal miner, but still the filaments were good. Checked all the fuses, and they are ok. Found the horn fuse out, so replaced it.

I plan on looking through it all again, but maybe somebody here can save me some time. Thanks folks.

do you have one of those plug-n-play trailer connectors..? they fail and will cause this problem

The main connector for all the rear wiring is underneath your vehicle, right about where the driver's seat is, just next to where the transfer case sits - if I remember, it takes a 10 mm socket to undo.

Because of its position, all kinds of moisture can get in there and sit, and eventually cause all kinds of problems to the rear electricals.

A mechanic friend of mine let me know about this, because once upon a time, he was working on a B series Mazda that had what seemed to be a problem with the fuel pump (intermittent no-start because of what seemed to be pump failure).

A new fuel pump later, but the problem recurred. Finally it was traced to all kinds of corrosion ("green death") in the main connector.

Might be the cause of your rear lights failure.

either the one he mentioned, or there is a plug by your driver's side rear bumper mount that allows you to disconnect the wiring for the bed if you want to remove it. that one came apart on me once and none of my rear lights worked.

Brake switch checks out perfect with test light, all plugs are plugged in, but still no brake lights, lol. Maybe the backup light switch is out, haven't gotten there yet.

Do you have the separate amber signals or are they all in the red stop/tail/turn?
