Default Light Bar Wiring Issues

So I just bought some Hella lights for my rollbar on my truck. So me and my buddy were attempting to put them in and we ran into a snag. We cant find a hole in the firewall to put the wire that goes to the switch in the cab.

Does anyone know where to put the wire into the cab?

Pictures would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Yours being a 99 your going to have to run it through the fender, under the cab and into one of the body mount bolt holes and then run it through the grommet under the carpet.

EDIT:
Look in this how to, it will show your where im talking about on that grommet

You can drill a hole or what I did was take out the fuse box and you will see be a big rubber boot that almost all your wiring travels through to get through the firewall. I cut a slit in that and fed multiples wires through that.

that's what i did. my amp power, light switch wires, and various other accessory wires are run through that slit. it's up out of the way enough that i've never had moisture or anything get in the cab because of it.

They didnt start using a rubber boot untill 04, 05. All older models just have a connector thats factory sealed in the firewall, making it removable, but not able to add any aftermarket wiring. I tried it on mine as well when i saw my friend did it on his 06

The grommet the parking brake cable goes through can accommodate the wiring your installing. I used that for many electrical and antenna cables on my '03.

Do you have to run the relay if your not going to connect your lights to the high beams?

Why? Here is my set up.

From + side of battery I have a wire with a fuse in it.
That wire goes to a prong on my switch in my truck.
The other prong has a wire that goes to a wire on the light.
The other wire on the light goes to the other light.
Then the last wire on that light goes to ground.

Is there anything wrong with this?

Yes. Everything is wrong One wire on each light goes to ground. The other wire on each light goes to your power from the relay or switch. What gauge wire are you using what wattage are these lights? What is the amp rating of the switch?

55 watt lights
The switch that came with the set and the wire that came with the set

Well if the kit came with a relay, then you need to use it. The switch is probably not rated to handle the full load.

PKidd, use a relay. it's safer than having your wires melt and then your truck catch on fire.

I had an electrician come and check out my set up and he gave his okay on it. I have a fuse in the loop and the wire is insulated everywhere it could possibly heat up. I know that the relay is safer but we couldnt make it work with it (my friend and I, not the electrcian) so we just made a big loop back to the battery.

It works now and looks pretty damn good, thanks for the help guys
