Default Re: number pad into ranger

There are just 5 switches that are connected to your remote/keyless entry module. The module sees grounds when the buttons are pushed. In the right combination the module grounds the unlock relay.

There should be 7 wires:
5 for the switches.
One ground.
And one for illuminating the key pad.

The code is on your remote entry box (5 digit code). It is not embeded in the switch.

If a wire would become hot from the code pad then a thief could just pop the pad out and apply power to the wire to unlock a car/truck. That is why the code is set in the remote entry box.

From what I've seen from my junkyarding. The remote box in the rangers are the same as the explorers.......for certain years.

What year is your Ranger and what year was the explorer?
