Default Aux reverse wiring help please

I purchased a set of these 4" LEDs for my rollpan last night. Came with rubber grommets and wiring harnesses.

I would like to splice into my reverse lights for a little extra light while backing up due to my lightly tinted taillights not putting out enough light now.

My question(s) are as follows:

1) Do I need to have an in-line fuse if Im just tapping into my exhisting wiring?
2) What color wire do I splice the light into? (its a 3 wire pigtail on the LEDs....white(ground) black, and red) What are the trucks colors?

LED's don't add much current draw so you can directly connect them to existing reverse light wiring without a relay or fuse.

So are you asking which wires on your LED's are for what? Not sure how you would expect us to know that. You should refer to the instructions that came with them, or ask whoever made them?

You have three wires on the LED's. The reverse lights only have two. On your taillights, one of the reverse lights is black, that is ground. The other is a color, that's positive. As for what wires on your LED's are for what, I don't know.

I have no idea which color the wires will be, but an easy way to do it would be to pull one of your tail lights off & pop out the reverse bulb to see which 2 wires are connected where it goes into the wire loom.

The plug going to the light socket will have a marking MINOR MAJOR GROUND. Trace the wire from the MINOR or MAJOR (whichever is connected, probably major) and that will be the + Positive. Trace the Ground or GND wire & that will be your - Ground.

Split the wire loom open where you have a little wire showing & use some quick taps to tap into the reverse light wires & attach your led +/- wires accordingly & you should be good to go.
If the led wires are too short, just tap the reverse light wiring with some red/black wire & run it to a convenient area where you can splice those wires into your led wiring.
Make sure to use good electrical tape to cover all the splices & connections before you put everything back together too

Test them out & if everything works, re-install the tail light & you're done.

HA!

I'm not that good, just too lazy to find the wiring diagrams to do things the "proper" way.

One thing you might consider is connecting the led's to the reverse wiring with some male/female crimp connectors so you can quickly unhook them if needed... I figured this out the hard way

So I'm still trying to figure out why your LED reverse lights have three wires going to them???

Ok. So something is wrong with this concept because negative and ground are the same thing. I don't think there would be two negative wires so something is up.

That is a stop/tail/turn light harness. So you probably have the wrong LED model. That is probably a red stop/tail/turn LED, not a reverse light.

Yea I should just be able to use just the ground (white) and black (pos +) and just cap the red wire off.

Red is the positive for that light. Not black. According to TruckLite's information. Since you are using the stop/tail/harness, the black would remain unused.
