so its almost time for a new battery in my truck, the one i have just isnt cutting it... what would be the pros and cons of using a marine battery in my truck? i know they cost more, but thats not a huge deal.

Marine batteries are Hybrid,
meaning it is in beteeen Deep-Cycle battery And a starting battery(or car battery)
-Marine batteries are meant to be dis-charged at 80%
before cycling a new charge
-Cold crank amps (CCA )are measured at 0 degrees ,
While Marine crank amps (MCA) are measured at 42 degrees

I would suggest getting A Quality Car battery
I had a Optima battery that performed great,
But die-hard,dura-cell and Interstate are very good as well

i like the idea of putting a dual battery set up in it some day for winching and off road lights and what not, maybe ill get one at that point. but for now looks like ill stick to a car battery. but the new optima batteries arent gel celled anymore... they swapped to packed glass like everyone else.

my battery still works fine, but i think it doesnt have enough cranking power, when i turn my stereo up and my headlights on it makes my stereo bug out for a second...

I can certainly vouch for Federal batteries. We use Federal deep cycles on my coast guard Auxiliary boat, and my dad used them on his sailboat for a long time too. As For Federal cranking batteries, I've only used one and it worked wonders in my old VW GTI. When my Ranger's battery goes I'll be looking to Federal.
