Default wipers randomely go on

on my 99 ranger the wipers will randomely go off while im driving, does anyone know why this happens?

i had the complete opposite happen on my '94 i use to have. ended up being dirty contacts in the wiper switch

Little gremlins like this are usually linked to a failing ignition switch.
