Default Maybe someone can .... HELP!!!

Hey.. need some help.

My problem starts when i put my key in my egnition.. ( or turn my truck on..doesn't make a diff.) after a few moments an alarm goes off with out a check engine ligt or any other emergeny light. the alarm goes off for one minute then stops. If i drive for over 45 mins the alarm will randomly sound again for a one minute period.

curious, i checked my fuse box... i pulled fuses but they were all still in good shape but i noticed when i pulled the fuse in slot #20 ( wiper blades) the alarm went off, and when i placed the fuse back into the slot the alarm began to sound again.. ( wipers work just fine)... any ideas on what could be the issue.

----------

oops, ignition....

2001 Ranger owner manual says fuse #20 suppose to have 7.5A. It powers GEM and radio. You might have a bad GEM. The GEM controls a lot of things....windshield wiper is one of them. The only way I know of to be sure is to get it scanned at a dealer since OBD-II won't do the trick. Hopefully, I'm wrong. If not, it'll cost you $900 for buying one from fordparts.com. You can try eBay or junk yards. I heard that your replacement must have the same part number to your current GEM. Even then, the dealer might have to reprogrammed the GEM.

Sounds an awful lot like the timing of the airbag warning chime that sounds when the light is burned out.

Does it sound like groupings of five beeps, repeated for a bit, then nothing? Is your airbag light out?

Just what I was thinking. I was thinking airbag alarm based on the timing of the 45 minutes.

Its an airbag alarm.. had the same thing happen... you need to pull your cluster and locate the airbag light and replace...

If you are trying to solve this issue it is the air bag system back up alarm. The lamp in your dash has burnt out. More importantly if the lamp burnt out it was probably on for a while which means your airbag system has a problem, probably a bad impact sensor. The one I just bought had been wrecked and *&%$^# repaired so rather then replace the sensors and the wrning lamp that is a pain to get at I opted to remove the buzzer. I do not condone being like me and am not resposible if you kill yourselves. IF YOU DO NOT REPAIR ALL OF THE FAULTS IN YOUR AIRBAG SYSTEM INCLUDING THE LAMP YOUR AIRBAGS WILL NOT FUNCTION. With that disclaimer the gem module is located behind the radio bezel on the left. It has 4 connectors and mine was held by just one screw. You can remove it open it and on the circuit board inside you will find that screaming little speaker. It is a black cylinder with a hole in the middle. Grab it with some pliers and wiggle it around some and pull and it will come off and you will never have to hear it again but you may also never have airbags again eith sooo..

oh my gawwwshhh! No airbags !? No safety foam to turn my cabin into a giant cannoli and save a life?

LMAO, the mount of people trying to play god instead of letting natural selection do its thing is what I find absurd..

Maybe its me but just think how less crowded your city would be if every a$$h*le or c*nt-bag trying to win the Darwin awards by being such a described person wasn't able to put another quarter in the slot and play the game again cause they didnt learn there lesson the first time? Worse than a Union - always protecting the idiots first

what? too dark?

This topic is over 7 years old, I'll bet the farm that the OP no longer owns a Ranger.
