Default speedometer, air bag light, seatbelt light, windshield wipers quit all at once

speedometer, air bag light, seatbelt light, windshield wipers quit all at once. I checked the fuses, they are all good. All the items went off at the exact same time. Also the air bag light flashes when i turn the truck on and then remains on. 2003 4.0 v6 4x4 ranger xlt.

it should flash a 2 digit code...flash the first number, pause, and will flash the second number...count the flashes and that will give you a code...post the code

All of these items depend on power from fuse 26 in the dash fuse panel.

I would put a voltmeter on the fuses 11 and 26 in and out. There should be something near battery voltage on 26 all the time. Fuse 11 should have voltage when the ignition is turned on with the key.

Also check the bolted ground on the transmission tunnel below the center of the dash. Depending on model, it may be hidden under a cupholder or some other cover.

^^^ What he said. Bob designed the electrical system for the space station, ford ranger, and F18. He knows his shit. If it all died at once, I think you have a fuse blown and just don't see it. CHANGE the fuse, don't just look at it.

Agreed... Although I would get a meter to check to see if you have power at the fuse block, could be something deeper than a fuse.

having this same issue. was doing some work on my truck today and replaced my accuator. later i noticed that my air bag light was on, giving the 29 code, that my speedometer and odometer arent working, my map and courtesy lights arent working, my auto window down stopped (though the window will go down), a dash light is out, and there's no warning beep for leaving my headlights on. didn't check the windshield wipers, i'll do that tomorrow. sound like a fuse issue?

Can also be a GEM Module.

also for the Airbag light this is what I dug up on what the Airbag cade 29 means

reviving an old post so I dont need to make a new one...

I was driving down the interstate Saturday following a couple friends when my air bag light on the dash started flashing. I smelled smoke, and saw a small amount of smoke coming up from the steering column/below the gauge cluster. I didnt see any flames or keep smelling it after a few minutes as I was trying to find a place to pull over.

We made it to my buddy's apt since my house was a lot further, and everything was as described above. When it happened, i notice my wipers didnt work, speedometer and odometer werent working, and the light kept flashing and eventually stayed solid.

I pulled everything out in the dash, didnt notice any fried wires.

but i did notice fuse 26 kept blowing every time id connect the battery. I blew 5 fuses in a row.

What do I check to see whats shorting out? Its all pure stock, no modifications.

2003 B3000 Dual Sport 2x4, auto. Manual windows/locks.

It runs and the lights work and everything else is fine, but the smoke thing worried me. Something shorted and i cant locate it

thanks guys!
