No Trip or Milage odometer

Hi All,

I am new here, name is chris.

Having an issue with my truck that is really pissing me off. I have a 1996 Ranger XLT Super CAB 4x4 4.0 V6.

for a while now, my trip and ODO work only when they want to. This week I have driven the truck ~400 miles and I have only logged 21 actual miles. the most I have gotten out of it was 114 miles driven before it quit on me again.

My Speedo and RPM and other gauges work just fine. I do not have any other issues with my truck. Currently, the ODO reads 145,xxx when I know this is well over 150,xxx.

is there anything I can look for? it just annoys the hell out of me when it works when it want to at any given time, day or night.
