abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
this fuse is responsible for the abs, back up lamps and the brake sensor. i replaced it today and when i drove it again it blew...again.
a little story. i pulled over into this rough dirt area with SOME mud for like literally 20 seconds, drove the 20 miles home and about 17 miles into i get my brake/abs light on and stays on. i cleaned my rims and brakes w water to make sure it wasnt mud, found out today its a blown fuse, put it in drove home, left it sitting, drove it again 3 hours later then parked and started the truck up again and then put it in drive a few feet later it blew (again)
no electrical things have been done to it recently

Re: abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
Sounds like you have a wire that has rubbed through causing a lot of amps to get pulled because it is shorting out on something. Get out your multimeter, and have a wonderful time with that one!

I don't need to be specific, start at the back by the lights, work your way forward. I can't tell you much of a better answer there unless someone knows a common wear point in the harness that could be where the issue is

That's where I'd start
Just do a visual check of all the bulbs too, I've heard of weirder things

Re: abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
check the wires in the shifter for the O/D cancel button...they are known to rub through the insulation and short out

Re: abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
Telling him to "just get out a meter" is not helping him at all.
The most likely cause is nothing to do with the brakes or ABS. It is most likely in the reverse light circuit. First pull the tail lights and check all the bulb sockets for corrosion or messed up terminals. That can short the reverse light (+) to ground and blow the fuse. Then work you way down the wiring harnesses from both sides. Look at where they split, there is a plug there that could be corroded too. Look for places where the wires have been cut or rubbed through the insulation. Also if you have a trailer harness, check that wiring too. It would happen around the back. Once it heads down the frame rail to the front, it is pretty well protected.
See if you can find anything obvious first, then we'll play poke-n-prod with the meter.

Checking those connections would probably be a good place to start

Re: abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
There can be corrosion down in those wraps, but unless you see a spot where it has rubbed raw, I wouldn't worry about that. Have you gotten any moisture in the cab lately? You could be shorting out at the brake pedal. We have had several instances of that on our work trucks.

Re: abs/brakelight fuse blowing (again)
no no water in the truck' im going to the nor cal meet tmw ill try to figure it out there and i stupidly hoped it was a coincidence and popped another fuse on....nope blew after 20 mins of various driving (backing, fast, slow, bumpy etc etc )

it did rain for two weeks though so some water couldve gone down the door panel on the inside but if it did it was just a drop
