Default Fuel Cap Light

When I first bought this truck the fuel cap light was on. I bought a new fuel cap and the light was still on. I checked it for codes (btw my check engine light does NOT come on) and I had a fuel sensor out.
I replaced that as well and the light went off.
Here's the strange part.
It came back on a couple days ago. Once again I checked my truck for codes hoping it wasnt the same one. Its a completely different code that has nothing to do with the fuel system.
So I'm starting to wonder if somehow the fuelcap light is my check engine light. Is this even possible?

You said you bought a new fuel cap.. But did you check underneath, the hose that transfer the fuel to the tank. Check the hose and , make sure the hose clamps are tight. And I don't like the spring type clamp. I prefer the one that takes a screwdriver to put it on and off.

You'd be surprised what codes have to do with your fuel systems ability to vent.
what's the code?
