Ranger alternator switch to a mustang alternator for 302 question
I am in the process of putting a 302 in my ranger and i had a question about my alternator setup. The alternator that came out of my 3.0 Vulcan is a 95 amp alternator and will not bolt onto my 302 alternator bracket without extensive modification and putting a vbelt pulley on it. To save myself from doing fab work i was wondering if i could use an alternator designed for a mustang because it would bolt right up to my bracket and it would already have the v-belt pulley that i need on it. the only problem i have is that is only a 61 amp alternator vs. my 3.0 Vulcan alternator which puts out 95 amps just wondering if now that i don't have to run the fuel pump (because now the 302 fuel pump is mechanical) and engine computer if 61 amps would be sufficient and keep my battery sitting at the correct voltage. Thanks in advance. And sorry for the wording of the title, kind of confusing
