Default splicing into PCM??

im wiring up a sunpro tach in my truck. the green wire that is for the RPM, it needs to be spliced into a wire on the PCM. how risky is this? will i have problems down the road?

oh and where is the PCM located, it says on pass. side of dash. i think i found it under the hood on the pass. side on the firewall(is that it?).

thanks much, Cody

The PCM should be behind the radio in the dash. I don't think you'll have anyproblems down the road as long as you splice/cut and put the wires back together with a butt connector.

Splice connector - best way to splice into a fixed length of wire: one side is open and accepts the existing wire without cutting it, and the other side accepts the stripped end of a new wire.

so long as what you hook into a a power source is just reading (tach reads rpm) and doesn't control anything you should be fine just splicing it in with no future problems even if it breaks, if you make a nice water tight splice. If you hook something in that controls, well then you could have problems if what you add has a problem some day, like a tach with a rev limiter.

harness and connector are visible at the bulkhead portion of the passenger side firewall. If you don't see this on your truck, then I'm wrong and you should keep looking. Or buy a repair manual.
