I have a 5701 Viper alarm with remote start that was installed professionally and now it doesn't seem to want to work right. I have had for I think since last October I want to say and it has worked flawlessly! But since the siren went out due to water, I ended up buying another siren and hooking it up to the red and black wires that I cut from the old one. Now all it does is act up. For instance, I go and arm it, it arms, then an additional chirp will happen (not all the time). It goes off when nothing touches nor moves it and when it does, the remote does not respond. Also when the siren is not wired up and the alarm goes off, the remote responds to that. Also the siren will make quiet but hearable sirens when I either shut my door (un armed) or turn my key to start and drive the truck. It's weird.
So my question is, is the siren horn red wire supposed to be connected all the way inside to the beginning of the horn wire coming from the brain itself and the ground should be on the battery or a good ground on the chassis? What I have now is the black horn wire with a male connector connected to a female connector wire on the negative battery and the red horn wire spliced and capped with the wire coming from the brain (wired from inside the engine bay). So if you know what's going on I would love some help. And again, I'm sorry for the long yet descriptive writing in this thread.
