Scan tool question

I have a Actron CP 9135 OBD II scan tool.
It won't link up to my 2008 Ranger.
It works fine on my 2000 F-150.

Can anyone tell my why it won't read on the Ranger?

check the data link fuse sometimes will blow and will not let you link up. find location in manual.

This^^^ its the same fuse that powers your cig lighter.

The fuse is fine. First thing I checked when it refused to link up.

I am starting to think it may be a software issue with the scanner as it does the same thing on a Ford 500.

It continues to link up and scan my 2000 F-150 and most other vehicles I use it on.

sometimes the scan tool has to be upgraded for newer cars.

Thanks that is what I was trying to find out.

I guess I check with the manufacturer and see if an upgrade is possible.

Check for an update to enable it to read the newer CAN protocol.

The manufacturer says it should read all of it.
However my tool doesn't have the software version on it they say it should have.

Which figures.

They tell me they don't offer an upgrade to read CAN.

I reckon time to purchase a newer scantool.
