Default cruise control troubles

so i bought my truck earlier this week and the cruise doesn't work. i press the on button and then set, and the "speed cont" light blinks but that's all and the cruise doesn't set. tried it at 30, 60, and 75mph and still nothing. dont think its a fuse because the light does blink, and when i took it to a mechanic for an issue with the heat (fried actuator) he said that the wiring looked good but he didn't really look at it too much. any help?

Default Re: cruise control troubles

There is a diagnostic mode for these trucks.

First turn the key to the on position (not starting the engine) while holding the OFF button on the controls.

The speed cont should blink.

Then press in this order ON, Resume, Coast, SET/ACCEl.

Do this moderately fast. Like a second between each press.

After you press each button you should see a flash (this shows that each button works).

After the last press (set/accel) you should get one flash it everything is fine, and then you can feel the throttle move as the servo moves the cable like an inch back and forth. If you get two it means that the brake light switch, or wiring, clutch pedal switch or jumper, wiring is bad or you had your foot on the brake or clutch. Three flashes means a problem with the brake pressure deactivation switch.

Post what happens or if you have problems getting this to work. If you have a problem doing this diagnostic I can post a video later to show what to do .

I have a similar problem with my cruise control.

When I press on then set no light or anything happens, I did the trouble shooting formula and at the end the cruise light blinks twice. I replaced the BPP on the master cylinder and cruise still does not work. Guessing it has something to do with the brake or clutch sensors in the cab? Any ideas?
