Default HID kit in 2001 Ranger Problems

Installed a 8000k Dual Beam HID kit...Left/driver side light works only sometimes. I need to keep switching the light off and on till it works and stays on. I got a new ballast from the store I bought it from but same thing. left side light works only sometimes. The right/passenger side works flawlessly. I switched the ballasts and the same problem occurs. The guy where I bought the HIDs from said i might need a relay. Does anyone else know of what relay I need and where can I get one??

You're going to have to tell us how you wired these things in to begin with.

Plugged the 9007 off my truck to the 9007 going into the bulb. Then the 2 thinner plugs from the ballast to the 2 thinner plugs from the bulb. Then the other plug coming out of the ballast to the plug on the bulb. These HIDS are LOW Xenon and HIGH Halogen.

ok got it, it was because my battery terminals were dirty and rusted... cleaned the battery terminals and purchased new terminals for the wiring...all good now!!!

----------

both lights fire up on que but only when the engine is on...if the engine is off and i turn the hid's on, only one light goes on...

Thats because the battery is too weak. When the engine is running, the alternator is carrying the load.

They should. Before you do that, check the battery voltage with a meter with the engine off. Report findings.
