No start condition
Hey, I've got a 1992 Ranger, 2.3 L I4 engine, 4 speed w/OD.
Here's the problem:
A few days ago, I went to start my truck and it didn't start. I checked my hardware and wiring, which was fine. However, after replacing the starter, it still wouldn't start, so I let it sit overnight. The next day, I went out to try and start it, and the wipers came on when the key was turned on; this had not happened the previous day.
What's the probable cause here? I'm thinking it might be a faulty ignition switch. Also, I had to replace some bad wiring--I had to re-wire my positive battery cable harness, because it corroded to the point it couldn't carry proper current anymore.
The fix for that was:
4 ga. battery to starter wire
10 ga. starter solenoid to starter relay (fender solenoid) wire
6 ga. with 10 ga. fusible link, starter relay (fender solenoid) to battery wire
So, what is the cause of my problem? And about how much would it take a shop to fix? Thanks.
