IF it is something with the splice (which would be kinda unfortunate) referencing mitchell ondemand the splice 217 is located "in main harness, near breakout for smart junction box (sjb)"
It would be best to test the fuse with a meter before moving to something like a splice... we should check the easy things first.

agree. I just pulled the owners manual and sjb is a fancy term for fuse box. lol. Do you have a multimeter? If not, do you have a harbor freight around you? they typically have meters for hella cheap. You're going to want one to troubleshoot this. have you tried swapping that 5A fuse with a known good 5A fuse?

----------

I'm thinking that fuse, the splice we discussed possibly or if you follow the wires back from the flashers it goes right thru the indicator bulb to that microprocessor. you could have fried that since computer circuits are very touchy w/ high current/voltage (relatively speaking)
I can only assume the processor is integral to the cluster itself meaning if that part is damaged you most likely are replacing the entire cluster assembly.

Again, let us rule out the simple before moving to the more advanced issues, these are only the things buzzing about in my head right now.

----------

with that mate, it is midnight here and i have a 7am meeting, i am off to bed. We will continue on with this tomorrow. if you make any progress or findings be sure to post back and keep us all updated.

'Til tomorrow,
Wily

i got one there for like 4 dollars. Another one I got there was about 10. it is what it is, cheap Chinese crap (C^3), but it is better than no meter. It gets me by with some of the basics i do until I can flip the bills for a real meter. The microprocessor would like like a computer chip basically. it would be built into the gauge cluster most likely. This is a part that would not be serviceable and require replacing the entire cluster were it bad. Lets hope that is not the case.

Cheerz!

- - * * PICS OF ANCHOR POINTS * * - -

Just noticed the driver side washers are rusted a little.
I'll take care of that whenever I get around to spraying on some bedliner.

I couldn't get to the ones in front because I still have my tube sand bags in there Didn't get very many pics either, it was windy as hell today.

They came with a metal plate for the other side.
I put on a nut & washer on the top side so they wouldn't pull all the way through before I slid them through the holes in the bed.

After I got them through, I slid on the plate & added some flat washers & lock washers, followed by a nut/lock washer/nut so they'll never come loose.

They were only a couple bucks each at the local hardware store. They're galvanized, but if they weren't covered by my tonneau, they'd probably have rusted by now.

The rings on the bed rails I got at WallyWorld a while back. They are supposed to slip inside the stake pockets & tighten up, but since I have the bed rail caps, I had to do some Redneck Engineering to get them to work.

Yea, I just kinda worked my arm between the bed & fender area.
The real fun was getting the plate, washers & nuts on from the back side without pushing the U bolts back through into the bed.

I've got a set of cargo hooks from an Explorer's cargo area (where else?) that I'm going to attach in the bed somewhere one of these days too.

Wherever you get the U bolts from, grab a handful of extra nuts & washers (flat & locking) I guarantee you'll lose some in the process.
