That actually is a lie

it is 9145 or H10
9005 and H10/ 9145 are not the same thing

Well its not really a lie. With halogens, a 9005 will snap right in place of a 9145. The sockets are nearly identical and a common Ranger trick is to replace the 45 watt 9145's with 65 watt 9005's. Are they the same thing no, but I don't think he was lying.

For HID purposes, you are best to get H10 since it is an identical base, as opposed to a 9005 which is an almost identical base.

If you want an exact part and a direct replacement, it is a H10

You can fit a 9005 bulb in it's place easily

They aren't the right pins to fit

It's like when you were a baby trying to put the square thru the triangle hole

You have 3 options

1: buy a new housing that accepts 9005 bulb
2: glue the bulb in and hope it stays
3: buy the right bulbs

Wow... I just realized you were talking about the fog lights not the headlights

The 9005 bulbs should fit in the fog lights with a little elbow grease

My bad!

There should be a little plastic piece on the back that holds the bulb in place. You can unscrew that, put the bulb in place and then screw the little plastic piece back in place

ANY HOUSING THAT ACCEPTS A 9145 WILL ACCEPT A 9005 BULB.
CASE CLOSED.

My question:
Why not just buy a 9145/ H10 which is the exact part number...?
