Question ipod integration problem. Please help

I bought a neo car audio iPod kit for a 1999 ranger, hooked up 12v to it, and it won't play through my stereo. I have the plugs in there tight into the back of the radio, then to the module, then to the iPod. The ipod shows it's charging, but I hit "cd" to play the iPod and it just says "no cd"

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Corey.

I imagine you have no cd in the stock cd player, that's probably what its telling you.

hit cd twice, that will put it into auxiliary cd mode (the ipod interface)

I tried hitting the cd button twice, it didn't work. maybe i'm doing something wrong?

----------

or could the stereo be too old where it doesn't have an aux mode?

I doubt that. if it was able to plug in to the back of the radio, it should work. ford used that port for external cd changers.

mine is cd once, the disc player starts up. twice, it goes to ipod... but I have a usa-spec adapter. I'd imagine they all work mostly the same way though.

mine also freaks out if you plug the ipod in while the key is on, or the engine running. I always wait until after the truck's been sitting off a while to plug in the ipod if i have it out for whatever reason, and it usually works. I think the adapter keeps power for a while after the key is turned off, and plugging it in during that time window messes with it.

sometimes, though I get a 'no mag' error. ther're pretty temperamental little things lol.

That's what I don't get. If it has the port on the back of the unit, it should be able to control the ipod. The wiring harness it came with looks like it has an extra plug, a male plug, that I have nowhere to plug in. Will it need to be plugged into some kind of disc changer harness?

2.5 Installation at the Radio
In this section you will learn how to install the iON behind the radio. If your vehicle is
equipped with a factory CD changer or other external audio source, you will need to disconnect it from the back of the radio in order to connect the iON interface

I think this means if you dont have a cd changer it wont work....? anyone else on this...?

----------

3.1 Operation
SELECTING THE IPOD
To select the iPod from the radio, press the button that would normally activate the factory CD
changer.
