Re: hid problem
That would be replacing the entire headlight housing too.

This isn't even a problem that is possible on our lights so something else is up here. I've asked him twice now to describe what he has and what he's doing. He hasn't done it. So if he wants go swapping wires around and see what blows up, it's his loss.

I read his post. What hes describing is pretty simple. The bulb style he has is like this:
Has two separate bulbs on it, one HID and one halogen.
So yes, it does make sense, it is possible, and swapping the wires is the solution. Nothing will blow up, nothing will be at a loss.
Thanks, have a great day.

Re: hid problem
Interesting. That thing couldn't possibly provide the right alignment of the filament to the reflector. Who created this frankenbulb?
If this is what he has, then yes swapping the wires will fix it. I stand by my original statements though, since it is still only a guess on our part since he hasn't provided any actual information.

Re: hid problem
I'm not sure how well they work, although I agree they more than likely cannot provide the best light output *shrugs*
And I hear you, but thats the only feasible way to get HID and halogen in the same 9007 bulb.

Re: hid problem
Of course they knew what you were talking about. Since they know what product you have. Nobody else here does.
When you're going to ask questions such as this on a forum, you need to provide actual information on what you're doing and what you're doing it with. Had you said what you HID product you were using, we could have given you a sure fire answer over 24hrs ago with no guessing. The fact that someone gave you the right answer was pure luck and blindly swamping wires around can and will bite you in the ass if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

Re: hid problem
They don't do shit on the road for the alignment thing you speak of. It's just there so that it will pass inspection when you get it inspected. That's the only thing it's there for. It's not going to give you an even distribute of light towards the road ahead of you. Should of gone with a DDM kit (single or bi).

Re: hid problem
DDM is a company that is known for there HID kits. They also sell LED bulbs, parts for beamers and things like that. They are located in California if I'm not mistaken and there HID kits is what most of us on here run on our trucks.

Luck your ass? So let me get this straight. You post that you have a problem with your HID kit. You don't tell anyone what HID kit you have or how it is hooked up. Your description in fact totally contradicts itself. You're asked to describe what you have and you don't. Knowing absolutely nothing about what you may or may not have, someone suggest changing two wires around. Wires that you may or may not even have in use and without knowing how you have it connected to anything. Changing around wires without knowing what you're dealing with can lead to burnt up harnesses and fires. And you think the fact that you blindly took this blindly suggested course of action and it worked is not luck? Since it wasn't based on any actual information and doing so without said information is dangerous, what exactly do you call it?
I'm trying to help you here. You can take my advice and move on. Or you can keep making your life more difficult. I don't really care since it's your truck that will burn down, not mine. But you can rest assured that if you have an electrical issue and I tell you something or ask you for information regarding your problem, that there is a very good reason for it. I've been doing this for 11 years. You've been doing this since... yesterday.
