Spark Plug Wires
Im doing research to get the screamin demon coil pack and some spark plug wires next.
Im looking into either the JBA wires or the Underdog heatbraid wires. Only thing is, the JBA is 9mm and the Underdog is 8mm. Will that 1mm make a big difference now or even later on when I got to retune the truck?
Thanks guys.

If you really want to compare the two wires you need to find out what their Ohm rating is per foot. That is what makes wires, Silicone jacketing is silicone jacketing. Silicone is good against ambient heat but if your wires touch the motor then super quad weave amounts to Moby.

Ive heard good things about the Underdog wires but i havnt heard much about JBA. Any opinions if the $ for the coil pack and if the $ for the wires is worth it? The coil pack is $99 and $68 for the wires.

That's relatively inexpensive considering other likely upgrades. I see the Coil-pack and wires as a bench mark upgrade, which is mandatory if you plan on further tuning. I've heard the jet chip combined with CAI, cat-back, coil-pack, wires, plugs, fuel filter/pump makes an amazing difference. "Feels like a race car with 4x4," a friend of mine says.

Sorry, but someone is feeding you a bunch of horse manure. You only replace the fuel pumps if the system cannot keep up with the demand of fuel, which is a far reach on a bone stock engine. You gain power by either changing the characteristics of the engine to demand more air (even then the stock system is usually fine), force it in (turbo / super charger), or run nitrous oxide, then that is when more fuel can/must be added. The mods listed will not give "race car" like performance, but they may yield "race car" like sounds (CAI and Exhaust).

Im not looking for a race car though. I want a few hp here and there and more gas mileage. Just wanting to know if I should invest in tese two things before i get the SCT X3. After the tuner im getting the underdrive pullys since you dont need to retune for that.

i wouldnt retune till after CAI, U/D pulleys, Exhaust, and coilpack/wires, and also electric fan because then when they make the tunes, they'll be set exactly for those add ons.

Im not sure if they do sell 2.3 U/D.
I talked to my local dyno shop and they said that U/D pullies do not require any retunes. All they do is relieve stress off of the engine and allow it to rev quicker and accelerate faster. U/D pullies do not change the fuel mapping, spark advancement, or anything like that... just makes the engine do less work (for a 20% U/D that means it does 20% less work than stock).

I just actually bought some motorcraft stock replacement wires after doing quite a bit of reading. I concur that I've heard good things about Underdog wires, but nothing really beyond claiming it does it's job exactly as expected, in other words nothing really improved. Also read quite a few statements that performance wires on a mostly stock truck is a waste.
The motorcraft replacements cost $42 shipped. When I saw underdogs were only about $10 more I was about to just buy those to try them out, but then an additional $10 for shipping I passed. Plus, I do my maintenance earlier than necessary, so I probably would just be wasting the "better" wires when I swap them out earlier than most would otherwise do.
Anyways... enough about me. If I were you, I would get a hold of whoever you plan to retune your truck and ask THEM if the 1mm difference will make a difference to the way they tune your truck.

Thanks Tom! The only reason i guess im really looking at the underdog heatbraid wires is the color. Since I do a lot of day and night glow-off shows around here that little bit of color adds a lot in the detail aspect.
Do you have any input on the screamin demon coil pack Tom?

CopperPete here you are again. Actually running a slightly higher PSI will produce a better spray. . . . . you know for atomic bombs. That build sounds fairly close to something I know. . . . . and my build is runing ram air and at 75mph, uh, yea it needs more fuel. . . . . Also my build has so far poduced solid pull from the word go, strong acceleration, jerky off the stop, so if Rafe's friend has done anything like my build then yea, it may verywell be a darn good puller.

Junno, if you want to add a pony and get a cool look I would sugg. a build a set of Magnecor wires and sheath them in heat shield, it'll bounce your neons nicely. . . . . Just a thought. Also if one wanted to get retarded about it, you could next level and solder some LED's in a line and run them in the braiding. . .
Sorry Pete I do not think they make plug wires in copper.(color)
