Default Battery setups

I've seen several different setups before, so I thought I'd start a thread where we can post our past or current setups.

Here's my old setup:

Here's what I have as of now:

Everything is basically the same with the addition of a 4ga cable off the positive terminal running into a distribution block that feeds my smaller fuse holders for fog lights, etc.
I'll probably be replacing that distribution block with a larger one & some 1/0ga cable and a custom fabbed housing I'm designing now.

Nice job. I've never seen anything like that before. And you went to a higher output alternator?

Thanks,
It's a 200amp. I could have probably went with 2ga wiring, but the 1/0ga wasn't that much more at the time.

Just 2 amps, one 400w 4ch for mids/highs & a 1500w 2ch briged mono for my 15" sub.

My sub is an original 15" Kicker round solobaric in a sealed box. It will handle 750w-1000w continuous.

My sub amp is an Autotek Super Sport 375w x 2 @4 ohms or 1500w x 1 @4ohms (max) Car Amplifier, AT1500. I'm guessing the sub amp puts out 750w of true power bridged @4ohms.

I cant wait for my setup that buggman will be setting me up with.

1- I'm curious, since i have the 3.0, How big/tall of a battery could I go with for more cranking amps?

2- I was thinking of getting a yellow top Optima.

P.S I would love to figure out how to run my offroad lights/ electric seats and other electronics a cleaner way, rather than have all sorts of wires connected to my battery, it looks really sloppy

I've got a 4.0 & I believe my battery is a 65 series with 850/1000 cranking amps. When I first went with the larger battery, I just measured the battery tray & got the largest battery that would fit in & still allow the hood to close. My original battery was something like a 34 series and it was only like 600/850 cranking amps... it was also about 1" shorter & 3/4" narrower than this one.

For years I wanted an Optima red or yellow, but I've saw more people having issues with them not lasting, so I just stuck with WallyWorld batteries. Years ago, I had an autozone gold battery that didn't last a year.

I've got some more distribution blocks on order, should be here by the end of the week BRU. You could do what I did & run a cable from your battery to the block where all your fuse holders could attach for a cleaner appearance. The blocks have a 4ga input (can be drilled out for 1/0ga) and four 8ga outputs (probably could be drilled out to 4ga). I have two 12/10ga wires in each of the 2 bottom holes which fit almost perfectly & the screw clamps hold the wires securely in place.

I think I also have a brand new fused power distribution block for the big round glass fuses with 4 fused outputs. That way you could eliminate the extra fuse holders, but you'd be limited to just 4 accessories.

I also have some more of those battery terminals coming hopefully this week if anyone needs a set.

The set I have, as well as the extra set I have now... I've had them for a year or so in my electrical parts box in the garage.
They're solid brass with a gold plating. A lot of the terminals at the auto parts stores & car audio shops will be hollow & pretty flimsy.
I had a set a long time ago that were quite expensive ($40 a pair or more) that were hollow. They looked nice, but not too long after I installed them they started cracking & finally broke completely apart where they rap around the battery terminal.

They'll ALL turn colors, lose the shiny finish or build up corrosion, but if you keep them clean & take care of them, they'll last for many years. The old positive terminal I took off my truck was on there for almost 10 years & it was just starting to tarnish. Only reason I changed it was that I wanted them to match & I modded the new ones to handle the 1/0ga wire.

I can't give away ALL my secret sources now...

I used to have one of those. I loved it. It was in a slanted box and sounded clean. Just didn't have enough power for me...
I just picked up my new battery today. Deka 9A31s that I'll be mounting where my factory jack used to be. Here's a picture of the base of the battery box:

I'll post up a picture of the new battery later on when I get home.

who are you going to run the wires, I look forward to seeing your setup, it's a good way to obtain more room for a larger battery.

The wires will run out of the side of the battery box and under the sub box. I'll probably have to go pick up some more 1/0 though for my ground wires and maybe a power wire for my amp. We'll see though.

----------

The battery in it's new place temporarily. The old battery is still in there for now but hopefully I'll have the day off tomorrow and I can get busy on finishing the box.

It's a bit messy right now:
