1987 Ranger electrical nightmare behind dash
Iv got a few problems with my 1987 Ford Ranger and the electrical. When i bought the truck its fuel gauge didn't work and the instrument lights would not illuminate the gauges. The fuel pressure meter did appear to work, (always going to the same spot everytime, supposebly because its just a switch of on/off) so is the battery meter, and temperature gauge.
So i am wondering if the two problems can be connected with just a bad ground on the connection of the board? Or am i probably looking at a no-good fuel sensor and something weird with the lights?
Also, on another point, i just bought a Sony CDX-GT700HD Deck, it was used for about 3 weeks before i bought it. It doesnt come with the wiring harness so iv been improvising will im learning. I originally had an old pioneer tape deck (probably not stock) and it has seen better days. I used its wiring harness clumsily and have no figured out why that did not work. After going to check out to see that different brands have different wiring schematics i am coming to the conclusion that i need it to be specific to that model deck.. But am unable to track just the wiring harness down or test every pin see if i can figure it out..
All right, go ahead and talk.
