Re: Trailer Harness power problem
Is it an OEM trailer harness, or is it aftermarket?

Re: Trailer Harness power problem
Did you check the relay?
It's the black one amongst the white ones. I replaced the OEM and everything works now.

Re: Trailer Harness power problem
Why did you just go and chop the harness off before checking other things? FAIL... You should have taken a tester to it before cutting it off...

Re: Trailer Harness power problem
Okay here is what happened, Mine did not work also, well so I thought, I took a test light to it and the trailer harness had power, so I scratch me head and pondered, AHHHHHHHHH; I decided to power the the (2) separate wires that the instructions spoke of, (1) red wire was to be connected to a 12 hot lead, This wire was spliced into the "BROWN" wire that leads into the tail light harness, ( Connecting it this way will allow the Tail light bar to only be turned on when headlight switch is turn to either position ) and not when you are not using your headlights, The other wire which is the (White) wire, This wire controls the reverse light that your Light bar may be equipped with, if so than this wire should be spliced into the black/pink wire that leads off the reverse light harness located in the tail light area.
note: In my case the light bar would not work unless it had power from the red ground wire, This wire has to be connected in order for the light bar to be powered.
P.s Due to the wide range of applications, many tail light bars will have different application for connections, however due to the simplicity most application will be of the same basic install.

Re: Trailer Harness power problem
If you have a circuit tester, check the trailer connector first. One step at a time, you can narrow down the problem.
Clip the ground of the circuit tester onto the ground pin on the trailer connector and test each pin for proper function. If it doesn't work, check fuses, relays and wiring. Look for pinches, frays or burns on the wires. If it does work, then we'll look at the light bar.
Double check to make sure you know how it needs to be wired. LED lights can be a bit tricky as often times they have small circuit boards inside that control the functions and they aren't as easy to wire or trouble shoot as incandescent light fixtures.
If you have a part number we can look up the instructions and comb over them.
I would be willing to bet that the problem is on your truck since it worked fine on your Jeep. Relays may go bad and not show any signs of trouble. Determine which is your trailer light relay and take it into an auto parts store with you. Try the new one.
----------
Oh, and when you do get it working, Dielectric Grease. Put it on the connectors. It prevents corrosion without insulating the electrical connection.
