for a 2001 ranger 4.0 need brake switch wires colors and mainly looking for the wire that is cold until you press the brake pedal then it gets voltage. it is so cramped up there I can not tell what wires are going to the sw. really can't get my fat head up there lol any help would be appreciated

Try Autozone..they have manuals and such online...but you have to register with them..I don't want to being in Canada and I have the full factory manuals for my 2002 anyways.

If you're trying to do this for a headunit to play DVDs on the move, I know a lot of headunits require a wire that goes ground/power/ground. Hence the need for a momentary/push-n-release (hot) switch.

These aren't cheap Craig..price-wise. All I could quickly find. This link will show you a Wiring diagram manual for 2001 Rangers..notice at the bottom it is page 2. Page one has the 2 volume Factory Service Manual for your 2001..amongst others.

I bought the 2 volume set of 2002 Ranger Service Manuals..all 9.5lbs worth from a seller on eBay years ago..for around 100 bucks..slightly used but in excellent shape. Google-ing lots..varying the search wording slightly each time may help you find better. Not really advising you to buy such...just showing you that such is out there. Easier to locate newer model years though..so these (2001) could get much harder to find in a few years.

thanks all, I will look for a Lt GRn , I am not hooking up a head unit but a brake controller since I do not have a factory plug in under the dash I have to tap off the cold line from the brake sw.
I will chk on ebay but possibly a haynesw will have it too for a 2001

Yeah, I forgot I had a haynes manual... looked it up and the same LT Grn is the wire I am looking for, found it and now the brake controller is almost installed

The manual was in a closet, I normally don't need a manual but I buy one for every vehicle I have ever owned even for the atc and atv's

so I just lost track of having one.
