Default brake light woes

My brake lights both work well when the headlights are off. When they are on and the brake pedal pressed , the tail light on the left goes off and only the right unit works. The bulbs are fine. I have a towbar..... could the power socket be the culprit? Any ideas please !!!!!!

i had a similar issue on a pos nissan of mine. check the ground for the taillight. also, make sure your bulb is good lol
