The most common thing to do is to get a 2 speed fan from a 3.8l Taurus, and wire it up with a remote tempsensor.

You can adapt almost any electric fan or buy one. You just need to make sure it pulls enough cfm's to cool your motor. I run a Flexilite 15" Black Magic fan with a variable speed controller. It pulls 2800 cfm and kept mine cool while running a/c and towing in up to 100 temps. You can shop around on Summit or Jegs for different efans and sizes. You can buy the fans and electronics separate or in kits. You can get the Taurus fans at junk yards fairly cheap and wire them up with or without a controller. For installation information you can go here Flex-a-lite Installation Instructions and view all their installation/wiring guides. Also some of the efans and controllers on Summit and Jeg's websites include wiring instructions. Mounting the fan is up to you and how fancy you want to get with it.

Have fun...

How much would all of this cost? And what exactly would the gains be?

Cost is up to you. You can get a tauras fan cheap at a junk yard and wire it direct. Or spend a little more money and get a thermostatic switch to control when fan comes on. Or spend a little more and get a variable speed controller which turns fan on at lower speeds as engine reaches programmed temps, usually 60-100% depending on settings. It provides for less shock on electrical system. Or you can spend a whole lot more and get a e fan kit (whick includes fan, relay, ac relay, thermostatic switch, and vsc) from Summit Racing or Jegs.

Thanks for being more specific. I would have explained that, but my urge to poop prevented me from typing all that out at the time.

You know Bear, if you should do all these mods to your truck you are not gonna want to drive it. 1. because you'll be broke, 2. for fear it might break, 3. because your significant other will be pissed and jealous. Just a thought. . .

That is the best part, it isn't worth the time and effort if you don't drive it.

Exactly. If I didn't drive it then what would all
my efforts be for?
