Default alternator question

so i know its possible to rebuild an alt, but when rebuilding it could someone rebuild it to higher specs? cause 320 bucks for a 200 amp alt is a lot, im wondering if i could take mine into a shop and have them build mine to do it for cheaper...

I'm sure a good alt shop can rebuild one from a 95 amp to 130+ amps, but it will probably be cheaper in the long run to get a higher output alt that was designed for the higher output from the start.

I got my 200amp alt a year or so ago on evilBay from an alt company... alterstart or something like that. They probably have a website too.

Mine was a direct bolt-in, although I upgraded all the power & grounds to 1/0ga wire.
200amps at idle & when the truck is running I always have 14.4v or more, no matter what I have running.

Best part was it only set me back about $250.00

Depending on the model/year of your truck, you may be able to swap in an Explorer 130amp alternator. I'd still upgrade the wiring to at least 4ga to be safe.
