It's not going to. You said it cranks fine. The problem is not getting spark or fuel while cranking.

Pull a spark plug out, ground the side of it on the block, and crank. You should see spark if you're getting ignition.

This may sound absurd, Try some different Fuel.

I used to own a '76 Jeep CJ5 with an inline 6 cyl. Here in Canada, back in the mid '80's Mohawk service stations came out with Methanol Blended Gasoline. It was touted as 'the next big thing'. I filled my tank with it and the sucker refused to start cold. Every morning I would have to push start it to get going. Once it was warmed up it would start great the rest of the day.

I remember speaking to several people with the same problem, all had 6 cyl engines.
The problem went away as soon as I got fresh Fuel and never returned.
I never Fueled up at a Mohawk station again.

Well think of this....by the time you find the problem you will basically have new parts on it!

But with all seriousness.......if it ain't getting spark when it is cold....hmmm..

It has to do something with the coil...I mean that's where the spark comes from.

Trace all of your power wires that connect to the coil.

Your battery will send electricity to your starter and solinoid....your coil hooks up with all of this....coil makes the spark and sends it to the distributor and the distributor sends it to your spark plugs....

Your timing affects the spark too....check your timing over....but you say it runs good when warm though..sounds like the cold just makes the thing get dead like a battery with a dead cell.

Check your alternator too....

They are two separate and distinct sensors.

The CTS coolant temperature sensor send signals to the ECU (computer) telling the engine how hot it is or isn't allowing the computer to send the ignition signals to advance or retard the timing to allow your car to be more efficient. When it goes bad it will and can cause the following conditions:
no start when warm
no start when cold
crappy gas mileage
crappy idleing.

The Coolant Temperature Sender (usually black or brown) lights up the idiot light or the water temp gauge by sending signals to the Coolant temp relay.

Both work on the same principle that resistance to the unit varied with the temp of the water.

So re-capping one sends signals to the computer.
One sends signals to the gauge.

Try a heat gun or hair dryer on the coil. This probably happens on cool damp mornings..??
