Lit door switches?
I understand that Rangers don't have illuminated door switchgear. Are there any other Ford/Lincoln/Mercury models with illuminated switches that are a similar design that I could swap in? Maybe from an old Taurus or something? I'd like to keep it looking as factory as possible, thus the parts bin preference.
Also, is there a suitable circuit to draw power for lights from in the doors? If no Rangers had backlit switches, there's nothing in the harness–right?
Thanks!

I would think you can tap into the headlight switch for that but you would have to wire up lights somehow under the switches, I would try LED's and maybe Buggman would know how to do such a mod because the guy is a friggin genious when it comes to stuff like that!

Re: Lit door switches?
If you have an extra set of switches, you might be able to disassemble the button part, drill out a small hole & install a 3mm led in the actual button. You'd need to epoxy the led to the back side of the switch button so it wouldn't fall out or get pushed out when you hit the button.
You could also install leds under the switches with the leds facing upwards so that they create a glow effect around the actual buttons. This might be a bit much, depending on how bright the leds are & how many you use.
Wire in an appropriate resistor to the led(s) & run it to a key switched 12v source or to a dash illumination wire and the led(s) will come on a) either when the key is turned on b) whenever the truck is running or c) whenever the headlights/running lights are turned on.
The black/red wire behind the radio bezel on the 4x4 switch or fog light switch could be used, as well as the black/red wire from the headlight switch. Using the headlight switch wire will have power whenever the truck is running on many models. Using the fog switch/4x4 switch wire will have power when the headlight/running lights are on.

I'm hoping there's another FoMoCo switch that I could swap in, especially since the only marking on any of the switches is the "auto" on the driver's window switch and the mirror control icon on the thumbstick. everything else is printed on the bezels
Also, I looked up the 2011 interior… very different switchgear there.

The 4x4 switch sounds like the best source to make the switch lights work as if they were stock.
I've never disassembled one of these switches, lit or otherwise…are lit switches generally translucent plastic with paint over everything except the marking? (I would expect my switches to simply be solid black plastic)

I noticed! I'd still prefer to swap in switches that started life as lit elements. I might be able to work the buttons and mounts into a spare switch block set.
