Default Ranger won't start

I have a 2007 ford ranger, I wasn't using it for more than a month, it was just parked nothing was wrong with it I just dint use it, and I went to turn it on this past Saturday and it was dead so I was able to jump started and I drove it home hoping it would of charged, but it dint so I went and bought a new battery installed it and now there's a little light on the dash with a lock on it and it dosent let it turn on, is that a theft protection? If so how can I turn it on?? Please help I know there's a process I just don't know what it is

sounds like transponder in the key has failed.. or not recognizing? try turning the truck on to run position (not crank position) count to 5, then turn to off position, remove key. repeat this process 5 time.. then try to start. when key is turned to run position it has to stay thr for at least 1-2 secs. I just count to 5 then turn off/ remove key and so on.. good luck...

My friend had a grand-prix with a similar problem. It had to do with the theft and when he removed his battery it set of the theft or whatever.

I get confused about it tho because it had a anti-theft for the car and a seperate anti-theft for the radio.

It seems like we had to lock/unlock the passanger door.
We eventually got it but I don't know, ford is most likely different then GM.

But maybe its something along the same lines with yours, seems how you removed the battery...?
