auto locks are...auto locking

howdy,

i am no good at electrical stuff. lately, when i start my 2003 fx4 the auto locks automatically lock the doors. i guess it's not a huge problem, but it makes me a little nervous. is there a wiring problem or a short or something that is causing this?

if we do then mine does not work and i have to push the lock button to lock it

i guess you're trying to be "funny"? i meant the POWER locks are engaging AUTOMATICALLY when i start the truck. it has never happened before in 5 years, but recently it has started to do this.

They do that when the battery is weak, I've locked my keys in my truck more times than I care to admit because of this. Get the battery tested.

EXACTLY. The abnormally low voltage while cranking the engine on a weak battery will trip the locks. It is not a design feature, it is a side effect of the low voltage. You're noticing it now because cooler temperatures exasperate the already weak battery.

ahh, the battery. that makes sense. it is the original after all (8 years old). thanks for the feedback.
