Default 2009 Ranger XLT fog light installation

I want to install OEM fog lights on my 2009 Ranger XLT. Unused electrical plugs are located where lights would be. If I buy and install OEM lights and a new dash control switch, would I have working fog lights? If not, what else do I need? Thanks for your time.

U would also need the fog light relay May also need to verify that the wiring behind the radio bezel is also there

I had a 2003 the wire was there at the bumper and went to the relay spot but then stopped there and didn't continue to the dash spot

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about the relay. The idea of possibly additional wiring may scare me off. I wonder if this idea would help:

Find someone with a similar Ranger with foglights and temporarily borrow their dash switch. See if I get power at the plugs. If not, see if I have the relay and if not, temporarily borrow that to see if I get power at the plugs. If none of this works, start scratching my head.

Guarantee u don't have a relay if you don't currently have fogs. Relay will be in the engine compartment up on the driver side in a long skinny box
#31 15A relay

But yes get a relay and switch and test

But I am gonna say if you remove your radio bezel the wires will not be back there to plug in

Still, it would be super easy to run the wires from the switch to the relay.

I don't even have the wires at the bumper, so I'd have to do a complete wiring job.

My local Ford dealer parts guy did a little research and found that, as expected, the control switch has two part # options - with or without foglights. But he could not find any wiring part #s with the same options leading both of us to think that the wiring is the same on all Rangers whether it comes with fog lights or not. The switch is $25 new and the relay is standard so won't be much. He didn't check so far as to see just how far back in past years that Rangers used the same headlight switch but I may stop in and see if he would. This would help me look for one in junk yards.

O hell I forgot they changed the fog light switch in 06 and up rangers to work off the headlight knob so all the BS about the radio bezel is invalid LOL

I have seen some people use a outdoor extension cord for their wiring cant find some pictures right now of it

Thanks for the info about the headlight switch change. Will check with some junk yards to see if they have any '06 and up Rangers with fog lights. I will probably have to do some junk yard roaming on my own to verify the fog lights but if I find one I figure the switch and relay will still be available. If lucky, maybe the fog lights themselves are still intact, but I won't hold my breath.

I just remember in my 2003 having the connection at the bumper but no connection at the radio bezel where the fog light button was.

Same for the rear speakers in that truck there was no wire prewired for rear speakers since it was just a XL

You can always find an older Ranger and pull the wiring from it and make your own bezel light switch. I would say just use the bezel but i believe the newer rangers have the Airbag light on the bezel now.
