Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
I hope I am posting this correctly. I am new. Great site guys!
This week I discovered my temperature control does not work. The knob turns but the temperature of the air stays very warm (luckily it is getting colder outside these days). It doesn't matter if it is on A/C, heater or vent. Does anyone know what the deal is? I am somewhat handy with mechanic's tools, but to be honest, the last time I really worked an engine was before they had computers.

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
It's just the temp control knob not the fan correct?

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
if it's the temperature, then it's probably the blend door is broken.

Yes. The works fine. I turn the knob but the temperature does not change. I took off the knob to make sure it is not broken. The knob is not broken. Years ago, it would be a lever to slide back and forth which was connected directly to linkage to the heater. Is it now done via computer?

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
That sounds pretty good. As I mentioned to Clinton, the fan works fine. Where will I find the blend door? Is it under the dash or in the engine compartment? Will it be tough to gain access? I see your interior is pretty much disassembled. I hope I don't have to do that. I guess I'll do whatever is needed.

the heater box is behind the dash on the passenger side. you may be able to gain access to the blend door from under the dash, or through the glove box. i'm not sure. it's not computer controlled, but electronically.
and if you look closely, the pic isn't a ranger dash....it's a mustang dash in a ranger.

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
Tis the season for this I guess. Either the blend door linkage is broken or the actuator module is toast. Lately, we've been seeing a slew of actuator failures on here. It's the little black box with the wires coming out of it attached to the heater box. If you don't feel it moving when you adjust the temp knob, it is bad. Easy to unbolt and replace and it's cheap.

Okay; now that is just cool. But why are you installing a Mustang dash in your Ranger? Are you also changing to a mustange engine? I know I got off my own topic, but..... very cool.
I will look into the heater this weekend. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the help.

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
why? why not! main reason was an engine swap. not a mustang one, but a newer motor in an older truck = lots of rewiring. so putting the stang dash in helps a lot with the wiring, as more of the newer stuff works better. plus to be different. i do upholstery for a living, so it shows off some fab skills as well.
and it's just pure sex!

Re: Heater and A/C Control doesn't work
Does anyone know where the blower motor resistor is located on my 2002 Ranger? I would appreciate some specificity not a general location.
