here's a good one.
right, i've got a radio shortage. here it is. when i turn my ranger on, 05 4x4 edge 4.0L, the radio works fine sound comes out. but when i put it in gear the sound cuts off. radio is still on just no sound. i put in back in to neutral or park the sound comes back on. electrical systems are well big for lack of of a better word. any assistance is appreciated. no music sucks.

I would just install a new aftermarket radio they sound better and then you will know what you have.
you can pull you radio out and see it the wires are being pulled when you shift

Some Rangers do this when water gets into the Smart Junction Box under the passenger side kick panel. Symptoms usually occur after a heavy downpour.

It sounds like you have ghosts.
In my experience, I would tell you to replace the ignition switch assembly.
Not the key part just the switch. I know it sounds odd but trust me your problem is odd. Just wait for the day you turn on the headlights and the horn goes off. . .

Re: here's a good one.
I was looking back through the posts for the same problem I am having. I noticed the horn and headlight comment. Can you give me any insight into this problem?

Re: here's a good one.
I have not found the leak yet. Carpet is damp around the junction box, has to be the problem? I ran into another issue where the radio is off, truck not running, but the light, as if the radio is on comes on and off. Will come out in the morning and the radio light is on. Drained my battery once and I removed the radio and do not have this issue. On the plus side I have not had the problem of the horn going off when I turn on the headlights, that's a crack up.
