Default Upgrading headlight harness

Has anyone done it? And which kit did you use? LMC sells a real nice looking harness that draws power straight from the battery instead of from the headlight switch. This mod alone is supposed to brighten your bulbs.
But since I'm an electrical newb I gotta ask a few things. Besides the actual harness, is there anything else I need to get? How hard is the install ?

Well...considering the headlight switch only tells a relay to turn on and the lights are fed from the battery, I don't see how this is something that'll be at all beneficial...

Those kits are meant for folks with sealed beam headlamps when they run conversion housings.

lol and I quoted that directly from the LMC catalog.

I mainly want this so I can run those higher watt PIAA bulbs that everyone says will fry the stock headlight harness.

You can just use these:

I used 'em with my last set of halogens that were some crazy output rating system(85w = 135w? or some BS). They melted my stock plug and those 14ga upgrade harness stub worked great. Pretty sure mine are 14ga instead of the 16ga in the link. I've still got 'em somewhere if you're interested...

But...getting blingy halogen's is like polishing a turd.... HID's FTW!!! By the time the bulbs and harness are picked up, you've surpassed the price of a single beam HID kit. Possibly even a hi/lo HID kit.

Im bumping this because it still confuses me. Shane you're saying that relay kit is pointless, but I heard that the headlights are NOT factory wired straight to the battery. That kit uses the switch to trigger the relays instead of pulling all the current through the headlight switch. the relays get their power directly from the battery.
