Default Radio won't turn off when the key is pulled from the ignition
My girls trucks radio continues to play and the chime goes off and I have to turn the ignition on and off a few times to get it to turn off. Any ideas?

It has a stock headunit with a sub and amp. Amp is powered on the stock remote wire

I would guess it is the ignition possibly leaving the accessory on. Did it start after the amp was installed? What year is her truck?

The radio in the new trucks we have at work, and my 99 GMC stays on til you open the door... the chime I don't know, check your wiring, you might have a short

The radio will continue to play even after the door is opened and closed. And yes Clinton it was after the amp was installed and it's an 02 edge

Sounds like someone wired it to the amp wrong, trace the wires to and from the amp that will probably lead you right to your problem

I wired it myself and do the same to every car I have ever owned or any car I have worked on. I know the wire is the remote, and that the Hilo converter is hooked up to the proper corresponding wires correctly, I have yet to encounter this problem

What's she driving? That doesn't mean that the way the car is set up it isn't arcing across something or they had multiple things wired into that power wire

I'm kinda at a loss with that one, you know more about wiring amps than I do! The only thing i could recommend is take the amp wiring off and see if it still does that.

Yeah same here, I haven't ever wired in an amp. I'm just going off what I know from wiring things in

Haha I need some wiring savvy guys in here then, I can wire up systems all day long, I haven't had this issue yet though.

is it grounded good? is the remote wire loose, or on the wrong channel? everyone messes up sometime so i would go and check the remote, thats my first guess if thats in the right spots, i would check your amp it might be bad.

I think you're looking too deeply into this. The ignition cylinder is probably shot.

The ignition cylinder?

I moved the remote to the ignition and it works fine now
